Makeup has always been my passion; this was first realised when I was 4 years old and at a face painting stand I was asked, “Would you like to be a cat or butterfly?”, I replied “Neither thank you, I want to be a mummy please” meaning I wanted the eye shadow, the lipstick and the blusher I’d watch my mum put on every morning!
As the years progressed, I’d spend my pocket money on the latest makeup trends and try and perfect my makeup skills. It wasn’t until two years ago that I realised that this was something I was extremely passionate about and I wanted to make it into something more than just a hobby. That’s when I took a number of one-to-one makeup lessons with various, local makeup artists and I started to build up my own personal makeup kit, with top quality brands such as MAC, Illamasqua and Urban Decay to name a few.
I also became very interested in finding the best brushes on the market that would enable me to achieve flawless make up. During one of my one-to-one makeup lessons, I was introduced to the ‘Real Techniques’ makeup brushes which are designed by Samantha and Nicola Chapman. The sisters are the stars of the Pixiwoo makeup phenomenon that hit YouTube in 2008. After purchasing the Real Technique brushes to add to my growing collection of MAC brushes, I became an avid watcher of their makeup channel, Pixiwoo, which shows detailed tutorials of every single makeup look you could think of!
In November 2014, I was lucky enough to be trained personally by Pixiwoo at their studios in Norwich. I trained with Sam and Nic for five days, covering a range of different looks and enhancing my skills under their direction. Re-creating makeup looks in front of this country’s leading makeup artists, certainly brought out the best in me as an artist!
